Adding St Petersburg To Your Trans-Sib Trip

When first built, the Trans-Sib ran from the Russian capital eastwards – which meant from St Petersburg at the time. Although it now kicks-off from Moscow, railway purists can still add St Pete’s separately ahead of their T-Sib trip... and so can anyone else who wants to see Russia’s second city, a complete contrast with Moscow.

All of the options below follow the same itinerary pattern – click here for fuller hotel descriptions and locations.

Day 1 - chosen hotel

Arrival in St Petersburg (from your own air, rail or sea arrangements). Car transfer to choice of hotel accommodation (see below). Balance of day free.

Day 2 - chosen hotel

Over breakfast you’ll meet your Petersburg Russian Buddy, with whom you have a half-day of assisted exploration of the city. No agenda – you decide what you’d like to do... or ask us for a choice of ideas? Rest of day free, maybe check with your Buddy what evening entertainment options are available? (please note our 2* options do not include a buddy assistance for half day).

Day 3 - chosen hotel

Full day available to explore St Petersburg independently. (If you would like more assistance today, maybe in getting to the countryside palaces etc, you can pay locally for this – just tell us on Day 1). Late evening (23:00+) departure to Moscow by overnight sleeper train (no restaurant car or breakfast on this short overnight route).
