We hope that you are having a good Christmas/festive/holiday season and wish you the best for the coming New Year. Go easy during the NYE celebrations! Don’t forget that the seasonal holidays in Russia haven’t even started yet. Things are about to take off however, with the 2017 New Year celebrations. Following this there will be Russian national holidays until the 7th January: the Orthodox Christmas Day. Some may have sneakily started early with a ‘Western’ Christmas too, -any excuse for a party!
There is still time to book holidays for a late Winter visit to Russia, and of course: for trips later in the year. Whatever appeals. Thanks to everyone who has ventured East with Russia Experience in 2016 and also to those who have followed the blog. Extra thanks if you have contributed to it by way of interviews or constructive criticisms/comments. Perhaps our paths will cross again!?
I visited St. Petersburg in September, deep into uncertain times globally. I realised that there would always be ‘something’ on the world’s political stage that could be viewed as an issue or disincentive for travel. So, I decided that I may as well go now as later. What exactly was I waiting for? The idyllic time on the horizon would -like a mirage- never get any closer, so I thought: just do it! I did, and had a fascinating insight into another culture as a result. Food for thought.
Best regards. Have a good New Year and perhaps we’ll meet in 2017?
