Terelj National Park
Terelj National Park is located 65 km from Ulaanbaatar, the Terelj tourist zone has a number of “camps” located in the southern part of the park. However the majority of the National Park is undeveloped and difficult to access.
The Alungoo Ger Lodge and Guru Eco Complex give easy accessibility to the Gunj Temple, Turtle Rock, Arayabala Meditation Temple and nomadic herdsmen. Opportunities to visit Nomads and horse riding are available locally to book.
Alungoo Ger Lodge
Alungoo Ger Lodge is truly an oasis of peace and tranquility beautifully positioned in the wide-open valley of the Terej National Park and set against a dramatic mountain backdrop. Open from May to September, each of the ger comes with en-suite facilities and the gers are each heated by a tiny metal stove in the center which you ply with wood for the chillier nights. There is a modern dining area and bar, and an outside terrace in which to relax and appreciate the amazing surroundings. Star gazing at the vast inky night skies is a must do activity.
Guru Eco Complex
Guru Eco Complex is adjacent to the Alungoo Ger Lodge which is its sister lodge. If it’s a blend of authenticity in a superb setting you’re after – and don’t mind foregoing a few luxuries, such as en-suite-facilities – this may well suit you perfectly. Surrounded by mountains, uniquely formed granite rocks and a wide-open valley, the emphasis is on supporting the livelihood of the community in an eco friendly manner and where natural organic food is served and local rituals and customs are both celebrated and preserved. The Guru Eco Complex is open year round.
