Vaccinations
No vaccinations are mandatory for any of the destinations we offer, unless you plan a stay in excess of three months in Russia. However, we would recommend you consult a qualified medical practitioner, who is in possession of the latest vaccination recommendations, with regard to the following risks:
CHOLERA; TYPHOID; HEPATITIS B; TETANUS; and DIPHTHERIA with especial concern for passengers either aged over 40 whose immunisation levels may now be lowered, or those not born in a World Health Organisation member country.
Drinking Water
The drinking water in St Petersburg has the potential to cause giardiasis, and should be boiled before drinking. Avoid ice in drinks, and opt for drinks which come from sealed bottles or cans. Mineral water is available cheaply all over St Petersburg. Good news however! St Petersburg currently produces Baltika, the best beer in Russia, available in 6 numbered varieties, from No #1 (a light lager) through to No #6 (a dark stout).
Taking Precautions
Throughout the destinations, you cannot rely 100% on finding sterile surgical instruments or dressings in hospitals if you should have the misfortune to need minor surgery - carrying a Sterile Surgical Pack (from good pharmacists) is a recommended precaution. Carrying your own small First Aid Kit and a supply of medicines for minor ailments is also recommended.
Travel Insurance
Travel Insurance is a prerequisite for travel on our trips (see Booking Conditions). Whilst we do not insist that you buy this from us, we do strongly suggest that you shop-around to get the best cover for the trip you are taking. |
