The Trans-Manchurian Express

operates weekly from Moscow to Beijing, along the historic 9001 km route to Beijing.    Seven nights are spent on board the train, which is operated by RZD Russian Railways with 1st-Class and 2nd-Class sleeping wagons.  Russian and Chinese Visas are required by all foreign passengers.

The Trans-Mongolian Express

operates weekly from Moscow to Beijing along a shorter track than the Trans-Manchurian.  Six nights are spent on board the train, which is operated by CR China Railways with 1st-Class and 2nd-Class sleeping wagons.  Russian, Mongolian & Chinese Visas are required by all foreign passengers.

The Rossiya Express

operates on alternate days from Moscow to Vladivostok (and vice-versa).    8 nights are spent on board the train, which is operated by RZD Russian Railways with 1st-Class and 2nd-Class sleeping wagons.  Russian visas are required by all foreign passengers.  NB the train is NO LONGER operated to connect with the ferry service Vladivostok-Japan,  which operates to separate timetabling and would *always* require a minimum of one night's accommodation in Vladivostok.

* You can only take the above trains to their end-destination.  You cannot break the trip!  (See below) *

Breaking the Journey - Very Important, Please Read!

It is NOT possible to break the journey using the above trains!!  BUT we can "create" itineraries with breaks in by utilising OTHER trains operated to the same standard,  notably the Baikal Express (Moscow-Irkutsk only, alternate-day departures from Moscow),  the Ulaanbaatar Express (Moscow-Ulaanbaatar, twice-weekly departures), and Train 24 (Ulaanbaatar-Beijing),  & certain other trains.
