Visas
Passengers who travel with us will need a visa for Russia and China. Also depending on your nationality one for Mongolia.
We reccommend a visa agency called CIBT who will arrange all this for you. You liaise with them directly for visas and also pay them directly.
This is the link for CIBT:
We are now booking clients from all points of the globe and are happy to advise you how best to go about obtaining the visas where ever you are based but we do not obtain the visas.
For all visitors travelling to Russia you will need an invitation to travel to Russia, we obtain this for you and forward to CIBT so they can process the Russian visa. Or send to you directly so you can process the visa yourself if you prefer. We only obtain these invitations for clients travelling on Russia Experience trips.
Extras
This trip is very different in style and content to our other Trans-Siberian journey's.
It is a group departure and has all the day trips and excursions included, therefore there are no optional extras.
In Russia and Mongolia you travel onboard the Grand Trans- Siberian Express. On the Chinese section between the border station Erlian and Beijing passengers change to a Chinese Connecting Train because of the different gauges of the railways in Russia and Mongolia and the railways in China. The Chinese train consists of First Class Sleeping cars and restaurant cars only. Passengers of Deluxe Sleeping Cars travel on First Class Sleeping cars on this short section (1 night, about 16 hours) as there are no Deluxe Sleeping Cars available in China.
There are 2 categories of accommodation on the Grand Trans Siberian Express: First Class Sleeping Cars and Deluxe Sleeping Cars.
For a full description of sleeping cars and services on board we recommend you download the trip itinerary - the link can be found at the right hand side of this page.
